Arne Slot aims cheeky dig at Liverpool star in post-match interview after Wolves win

Liverpool manager Arne Slot aimed a cheeky dig at one of his players after their 2-1 win over Wolves at Molineux.

The Reds won the game through Mohamed Salah's second half penalty, which came just two minutes after Wolves levelled the scores through Rayan Ait Nouri's close-range strike.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate earlier opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time with a close range header, although did make an error leading to Wolves' goal.

Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was the player who received the Player of the Match award after another impressive display for the Reds.

In their joint interview with Sky Sports after the match, Konate joked that he should have been given the award instead of Gravenberch after his goal.

Presenter David Jones put the question to Slot, who smiled before replying: "Okay. Then he maybe forgot the moment that we conceded the goal - maybe he wasn't there at the time!

"Maybe that was the reason we conceded, because he wasn't there. To say the least, it was avoidable, let's say it like this."

The result does take Liverpool top of the Premier League at the end of Saturday, with Manchester City dropping points earlier in the day.

The Reds have won five of their opening six games, with their only defeat being the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield earlier this month.

Speaking about his side's general performance at Molineux, Slot said: "I don't think we started off well but you have to give credit to Gary O'Neil and Wolves, because they had a really good game plan.

"We had some problems in the first 15 to 20 minutes, but afterwards I think we took control over the game.

"It wasn't that strange, the moment that we scored the goal [Konate before half-time], because just before we had a big chance with Dominik Szoboszlai."
