Real MadridFIFA Releases Devastating News For Real Sociedad After Death Chant To Madrid Player

In a recent Copa del Rey semi-final first leg, Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena. The match, however, was overshadowed by a disturbing incident involving Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio.

The game’s only goal came in the 19th minute when 18-year-old Brazilian striker Endrick capitalized on a swift counter-attack. Vinícius Júnior, serving as captain for the first time, regained possession and relayed the ball to Jude Bellingham. Bellingham delivered a precise long pass to Endrick, who controlled it adeptly before slotting it past Real Sociedad’s goalkeeper, Álex Remiro. This goal marked Endrick’s continued impressive performance in the tournament.

Despite the early lead, the match took a distressing turn just before halftime. Sections of the home crowd directed vitriolic chants towards Raúl Asencio, reportedly shouting “Asencio, muérete” (“Asencio, die”). These chants emerged after Asencio committed a foul on Ander Barrenetxea, leading to heightened tensions. Vinícius Júnior promptly informed referee José María Sánchez Martínez about the abusive chants. In response, Sánchez Martínez halted the match temporarily, adhering to the anti-hatred protocol. A message condemning racist, xenophobic, and intolerant behavior was displayed on the stadium’s screen and announced over the public address system. The match resumed after this intervention. Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, decided to substitute Asencio at halftime, citing the player’s emotional distress and an earlier yellow card as factors influencing the decision. Ancelotti emphasized the importance of protecting the player’s well-being, noting that Asencio was visibly affected by the hostile environment.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from the football community. LaLiga is expected to investigate the matter, and Real Sociedad may face sanctions for the behavior of their supporters. This event underscores the ongoing challenges football faces in eradicating hate speech and ensuring a respectful environment for all participants.

On the sporting front, Real Madrid’s victory provides them with a crucial advantage heading into the second leg of the semi-final, scheduled for April 1 at the Santiago Bernabéu. The team will aim to maintain their lead and secure a spot in the final, while also addressing the broader issues highlighted by the unfortunate events in San Sebastián.
