Virgil van Dijk has officially extended his contract with Liverpool.

Liverpool has officially announced that centre-back Virgil van Dijk has signed a new contract.

Throughout the season, the club has faced considerable pressure to address the futures of Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom have contracts set to expire this summer.

While Alexander-Arnold is anticipated to leave on a free transfer, Salah initiated the process last week by signing a new deal.

Van Dijk has now followed suit, committing to a new two-year contract at Anfield.”

I am very happy and extremely proud,” Van Dijk expressed to the club’s media.

“There are so many emotions running through my mind as I talk about this.

“”It’s a proud moment filled with joy.

It’s simply incredible.

The journey I have experienced in my career thus far, and the opportunity to extend it for another two years at this club, is amazing, and I am truly delighted.”

There had been considerable speculation regarding a potential move for Van Dijk to another European powerhouse, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain mentioned as possible destinations. However, the centre-back has affirmed that his desire has always been to remain with Liverpool.

“It was always Liverpool,” he emphasized. “That was my mindset. It was always part of my plan to stay here.

“”I never doubted that this is the right place for me and my family.

I feel like one of Liverpool.

Someone referred to me recently as an adopted Scouser, and I take great pride in that; it brings me immense joy.”
