Liverpool Offer €75m-Rated Star in Swap Deal to Secure Florian Wirtz

Darwin Núñez’s future at Liverpool appears increasingly uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches, with growing interest from both European clubs and the Saudi Pro League. The Uruguayan striker, who has struggled to find consistent form, may be on the move in the coming months, especially as Liverpool eye a high-profile acquisition to strengthen their attacking options.

According to renowned journalist David Ornstein, Núñez is among several players who could depart Anfield this summer. The Reds are reportedly preparing a major bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s rising star Florian Wirtz. The German international has become one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe, and Liverpool have already tabled an initial offer said to exceed €100 million, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

To help finance the move, Liverpool are considering creative options — one of which could involve Núñez. Sources close to *Empire of the Kop* reveal that the striker is open to a new challenge, and his agents are actively exploring potential clubs for a transfer. As a result, a player-plus-cash deal has emerged as a possible route. In this scenario, Liverpool would offer Núñez to Leverkusen in exchange for Wirtz, along with a cash payment to bridge the valuation difference. Wirtz is currently valued in the range of €130 million to €150 million, and including Núñez in the package could help significantly reduce the financial outlay.

Should the swap deal fail to materialize, Núñez still has a strong market. Clubs like Atlético Madrid and Napoli are closely monitoring his situation, while several Saudi Pro League giants — including Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli — are also believed to be interested in securing his services.

Núñez’s form over the past season has been underwhelming, managing only seven goals in 47 appearances. This has led to questions about his suitability for Liverpool’s future plans, especially with Arne Slot stepping in as the new head coach. Sporting director Richard Hughes may view this summer as an opportune moment to part ways with the 25-year-old, who turns 26 in June, particularly if it helps secure a top-tier talent like Wirtz.

At present, the likelihood of a swap deal depends on whether Núñez would be willing to join Bayer Leverkusen and if the Bundesliga champions see him as a valuable addition to their squad. Until those questions are answered, the potential transfer saga involving Núñez and Wirtz remains one to watch closely as the window opens
