FORMER REAL MADRID STAR, SAMI KHEDIRA, DELIVERS A BLUNT VERDICT ON VINICIUS JUNIOR: "HE WON'T WIN THE BALLON D'OR IF..."
According to Khedira, the Brazilian international's behavior is detrimental to his success. "But I must add one thing: his attitude sometimes... he often looks angry. Cristiano was a bit like that when he was young, but he quickly changed. If Vinicius wants to become like Messi, Zidane, Cristiano, Xavi, he needs to be more respectful to his opponents and referees. He needs to change that. But regarding football, he's number one, of course," Khedira confessed.
Khedira, who played for Real Madrid from 2010 to 2015, believes that Vinicius Junior and Rodri were the best players this year. "I'm not a big fan of individual awards, but it seems to me that Rodri and Vini were the best this year. If Vini changes a bit and becomes more of a gentleman and a leader, he'll win three or four Ballon d'Or awards," he added.
However, not everyone agrees with Khedira's assessment. A voter for France Football, the organization that awards the Ballon d'Or, believes that a player's character should not be taken into account when evaluating their performance. "If we say that Vinicius Junior has a strong personality and complains a lot, we can't deny that he also shows gestures of fair play. Football is a game of emotions, and considering all the racist insults that the Real Madrid winger suffers, who shows in every match that he's one of the best, if not the best player in the world right now, we should rethink this way of thinking to judge the deserving winners of the Ballon d'Or."
