Liverpool Face Nervous Wait on Three Key Players Ahead of Bournemouth Showdown

Liverpool are gearing up for their Premier League trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, but uncertainty remains over the availability of several key players.

Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are major doubts, having been sidelined for the past two weeks due to injury. Jota has missed the last four games after suffering a muscle issue during his brief but impactful substitute appearance in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest earlier this month. The Portuguese forward has already endured a frustrating season, having previously missed a significant period following an upper-body injury sustained against Chelsea in late October.

Jones, on the other hand, has not featured since setting up Mohamed Salah’s opener in Liverpool’s 2-1 Champions League win over Lille last Tuesday. The midfielder picked up a knock just before halftime, managed to finish the first half after receiving treatment, but was unable to continue after the break.

Adding to Liverpool’s concerns, Darwin Núñez is also a doubt for the weekend. The Uruguayan striker missed Wednesday’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven due to illness. Although he traveled with the squad to the Netherlands, he was sent back to Merseyside before kickoff.

However, there is some positive news for the Reds. Joe Gomez has returned to full training after recovering from a hamstring injury suffered in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over West Ham on December 29. His return could provide a timely boost as Liverpool navigate a crucial stage of the season.
